Gower College Swansea is strengthening its position as Wales’ only floor covering apprenticeship provider, with the opening of a new, industry-focused training facility designed to meet the growing demand across the flooring industry.
This purpose-built space, located at the college’s Jubilee Court campus in Fforestfach, has been developed to support the delivery of the Level 2 Floorcovering apprenticeship, a specialist programme designed to equip apprentices with the skills, technical expertise and practical experience to progress in the trade.
To mark the opening, the college will also be opening its doors to employers, inviting them to drop in and explore the new facilities on Wednesday 13 May.
The new flooring facility has been created in direct response to growing demand from employers and the wider sector. It provides a dedicated, industry-standard environment where learners can refine their techniques, gain hands-on experience, and upskill in line with current professional practices.

As the only provider of this apprenticeship in Wales, we have a responsibility to ensure the highest standards of training and support for our learners and employers. This dedicated space allows our trainers to deliver hands-on, industry-relevant teaching that reflects real working environments, while also giving employers confidence that their staff are developing the skills needed to succeed.”
