Huw Williams, vice-chairman of Geldards and partner at Geldards Cardiff office, has been appointed to the prestigious position of Chief Legal Adviser to the National Assembly of Wales Commission which supports the work of the Llywydd (Presiding Officer) and the members of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly is the democratically elected body that represents the people of Wales, makes laws, approves Welsh taxes and holds the Welsh Government to account.
Huw is currently the lead partner of the Public Sector team at Geldards and is stepping down from this role to be seconded to the Assembly. Huw will also retire as a partner after thirty-two years with the firm and will continue to be associated with Geldards as a consultant to the firm’s public law practice.
“I am honoured to have been appointed to this prestigious position in the National Assembly. I have taken a keen interest in the constitutional development of Wales over the last twenty years as part of my public law practice at Geldards and I am very pleased to now have the opportunity to contribute directly to the work of the Llywydd and the Assembly in the role of Chief Legal Adviser.”
