On Friday 16th May, more than 400 finance professionals and leaders came together for the annual Finance Awards Wales in Cardiff. These Awards celebrate the very best talent within the finance profession in Wales, recognizing innovation, efficiency and growth across all sectors and businesses in Wales.
Mikaela Bishop, Financial Planning & Analysis Leader at GE Aerospace Wales, scooped the top prize in the Finance Manager of the Year Award category. She was nominated for the Award, by her colleagues at the Wales site, in recognition of her outstanding support for Product and Operational teams, excellence in managing large, complex projects as well as leading a team of finance professionals at the GE Aerospace Wales site at Nantgarw.
Reflecting on her Award success, Mikaela said:
“Receiving this Award is a huge honour and I’m very humbled to have been nominated. I would like to thank my manager, Stephanie Thomas, for her guidance and support since joining the business and I want to also recognise the amazing Finance Team who I have the privilege of leading and working with every day.”
Mikaela, an ACA Qualified Accountant, started her career interning at GE Aerospace before working as part of the Audit Team at PwC. She then spent 3 years at Transport for Wales, a public sector entity, before re-joining GE Aerospace in November 2023. Since then Mikaela has demonstrated herself as a strong leader who possesses deep financial knowledge coupled with strong communication and analytical abilities.

The Wales Finance Awards are sponsored and coordinated by Recruit 121 Finance & Accounting and the annual awards ceremony where Mikaela and the other winners collected their trophies was held this year at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff.
