Further £12.6m for Grassroots Football Facilities in Wales

Grassroots football facilities across Wales will benefit from £12.6 million in UK Government funding improve pitches, changing rooms and pavilions.

It is part of a £230 million investment in football facilities across the UK to level up access to quality sport provision.

An initial £1.3 million was allocated to 17 projects across Wales last year as part of the first tranche of funding.

The latest £12.6 million investment programme will be delivered by the Football Association of Wales on behalf of the UK Government.

Secretary of State for Wales David TC Davies said:

“Grassroots football is at the heart of communities throughout Wales, providing sporting opportunities for children and adults but also bringing significant health and social benefits.

“I’m delighted that this significant investment by the UK Government for facilities across the length and breadth of Wales will help recipient clubs and groups continue their fantastic work.

“Welsh football has made huge progress in recent years, culminating in qualification for the 2022 World Cup. The UK Government is proud to support the development of facilities that will help the next generation of young footballers continue this success.”
