A new Cwmbran Futures consultation is being run by Torfaen Council on behalf of the Cwmbran Neighbourhood Board.
The consultation can be found on the council’s engagement site Get Involved Torfaen.
This is the latest step in the Plan for Neighbourhoods Cwmbran (formally known as the Long-Term Plan for Towns), which is a regeneration plan backed by a £20 million UK Government Grant.
The plan will be developed and delivered by the Cwmbran Neighbourhood Board, which is made up of local people, residents and business owners.
It will deliver funding opportunities over the next 10 years which will help revitalise communities across Cwmbran through three core goals: Thriving Places; Stronger Communities and Taking Back Control.
The plan covers the town centre and surrounding areas, focusing on what matters most to local people.
During a consultation in 2024, local people shared their thoughts on key themes such as safety and security, high streets, regeneration and heritage, and connectivity.
In the new consultation, the Cwmbran Futures project is looking to explore the following issues:
- Housing
- Jobs and skills
- Health and well-being
- Education and opportunity
- Life in communities
Torfaen Council is working with Cwmbran Neighbourhood Board to support its work on the planning and implementation of the 10-year project.
Cllr Joanne Gauden, Torfaen Council's Executive Member for Economy, Skills and Regeneration, said:
“Developing a 10-year plan for the future of Cwmbran is very important. It sets a target of what the town could become in the future that we can work towards, ready for funding opportunities as they come up.
“To make sure the Plan for Neighbourhoods Cwmbran meets the needs and expectations of local people, we really need both residents and business to have their say. Please don’t miss this opportunity to help shape the town’s future via the new consultation.”
Mark Poulton, the Co-Chair of Cwmbran Neighbourhood Board, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for all communities in our town to bring forward their large or small ideas to create positive change and lasting legacies. To our young people in particular, you have the power to shape your future. Please bring your ideas. Tomorrow belongs to those who see it coming.”
The survey is open until 5pm on Monday, 6th October 2025, and can be completed by visiting the Get Involved Torfaen website or by collecting a paper copy from Cwmbran library.
Consultation drop-in sessions are also being held at:
- Thursday 25th September, Cwmbran Library, 10am – 6:30pm
- Tuesday 30th September, Cwmbran Stadium, 10am – 6:30pm
