Cricket in Wales is entering a transformative chapter. With new investment secured, the continued evolution of the Welsh Fire franchise, and growing momentum across the game, we are facing an opportunity unlike anything we’ve seen before.
At Glamorgan Cricket Club, we see this moment as not just a chance to elevate our sport, but to help put Wales firmly on the global cricketing map.
Our vision is simple but powerful: to make Wales proud of everything we do, both on and off the field. Cricket has deep roots here. Glamorgan is the only first-class county in Wales and the custodians of a rich and proud tradition. But our eyes are fixed firmly on the future. We are part of a rapidly evolving sport, one that is becoming increasingly global, dynamic, and centred around the white-ball and franchise formats that captivate new and diverse audiences.
The challenge for us is to embrace that change while staying true to who we are. Over the next five to ten years, our mission is to establish Glamorgan as a top-eight club in the evolving UK cricket landscape. That means being competitive, ambitious, and connected to our communities. It also means being a source of pride for the whole of Wales, not just for what we achieve in terms of wins, but for how we grow the game, inspire the next generation, and represent our nation with passion and purpose.
This new investment, along with the profile of The Hundred competition, presents a springboard. We have the opportunity to reignite our ambition, to start seeing more young Welsh players break through, first into Welsh Fire sides, then into international franchise competitions, and ultimately into England shirts. It’s been two decades since Simon Jones lit up the Ashes in 2005. We believe now is the time to put that right and create a clear pathway for Welsh boys and girls to follow in his footsteps.
But success won’t just be defined by who lifts trophies. It’s about the role cricket can play in Welsh life, bringing communities together, supporting young people, offering opportunities, and creating memories. We want our stadium to be a place where families come together, where children are inspired, and where the sport feels truly accessible to all.
Cricket has a global platform now. Wales deserves its place on it. And at Glamorgan, we are ready to rise to the moment. We are building something that everyone in Wales can be proud of, something that honours our past, embraces the present, and boldly shapes the future of cricket in our country.
