Business News Wales Unveils Major Coverage Expansion

Business News Wales is thrilled to announce the launch of Business News Wales 2.0, a significant expansion of its coverage, that aims to amplify the ins and outs of what’s happening across Wales’ key business sectors, every month.

This comprehensive upgrade introduces 12 new dedicated industry sections, complete with monthly podcasts, regular email newsletters, and a monthly forward features themes, offering an array of communications opportunities for businesses across Wales – view our Forward Features page.

This isn’t just a one-off effort for September; the Welsh independent publisher is committed to providing this level of detailed coverage every month for every sector and region it covers.

This expansion follows a significant investment round completed in April and the appointment of a new editor, head of multimedia, and a range of content and multimedia production staff.

The expansion also includes a closer integration with sister titles Green Economy Wales and Skills Wales, which will feature similar monthly podcasts, newsletters, and forward themes.

Over the last month alone, the team has produced 18 podcasts for its sections and clients, written 32 expert columns, and produced 52 industry features—all of which will be available on the Business News Wales website from Monday, 2nd September.

Coverage will now focus on nine core sectors and initially 3 regions:

In addition, the regions of Cardiff, Newport, and North Wales will receive dedicated podcasts, weekly newsletters, and extended coverage, with Neath Port Talbot and Heads of the Valleys regions joining in October.

Several high-profile organisations have partnered with Business News Wales as part of this scale-up, including Development Bank of Wales, Cardiff Capital Region, Ambition North Wales, Swansea Bay City Deal Regional Skills Partnership, Open University, Celtic Freeport, Cardiff and Vale College, ACCA, Openreach, Business in Focus, Menter Mon, Wrexham Uni, The Port of Milford, Net Zero Industry Wales, Cardiff Met, Cyber Innovation Hub, NatWest, BITC, and many other corporate firms.

Mark Powney, Managing Director of Business News Wales, commented:

“Next year, we celebrate 10 years in business, and during this time, we have gained a unique insight into all industries and regions in Wales. It has become very clear that we have a role and responsibility to enhance transparency and visibility across all our business sectors. We are passionate Welshmen and women with an ambition to make a difference, but we can’t do this alone.

Business News Wales is a voice for business in Wales, but we cannot achieve this without the support of those businesses and organisations leading Wales’ economic development.”

Carwyn Jones, former First Minister of Wales for over eight years and presenter of all Business News Wales podcasts, added:

“I am so proud of what the team at Business News Wales has achieved in the last few months. Creating a business news and information product with such depth and regularity provides a clear shop window for governments, investors, and businesses, clearly demonstrating that Wales is a thriving ecosystem and very much open for business.”
