Business News Wales Announces Major Website Relaunch for 27th October

BusinessNewsWales_Our_Story_Evolves_v2

Business News Wales will launch its new website on Tuesday 27th October, marking one of the most significant developments in the company’s 11-year history and introducing a new editorial strategy, enhanced digital services and a revised business model.

The relaunch follows six months of development and will see the migration of more than 35,000 published stories and 55,000 images into a completely redesigned digital platform featuring more than 250 pages.

Alongside a significantly improved mobile experience, the new website will introduce updated newsletters, a new approach to industry and regional business journalism, and a broader editorial proposition designed to deliver greater value to businesses, readers and commercial partners across Wales.

Website Transition Notice

  • As preparations for the launch accelerate, Business News Wales is advising readers and clients that some temporary formatting issues, layout changes and occasional disruption may be visible on the existing website during the coming week.
  • The transfer of more than a decade of editorial content, imagery and data represents a substantial technical undertaking, and the team will be working throughout the week to ensure the transition is completed as smoothly as possible.
  • Business News Wales appreciates the patience and understanding of its readers and partners during this period.

Mark Powney, Managing Director of Business News Wales, said:

“As we celebrate our 11th year in business, we have spent much of the last six months working quietly behind the scenes to develop a very different proposition for Business News Wales.

“The media marketplace has changed significantly, as have the expectations of our readers, advertisers and commercial partners. We recognised that simply launching a better-looking website would not be enough. We needed to rethink what Business News Wales should represent, the value we deliver and how our business model needs to evolve.

“What we are launching on 27th October is therefore much more than a new website. It represents a new editorial direction, a different approach to engaging with the Welsh business community and a revised commercial model that we believe is better aligned with the needs of the market.”

While the scale of the changes may surprise some readers, the new direction will be familiar to many of the businesses and organisations already working with Business News Wales.

With more than 150 clients engaging with the company each year, feedback and ongoing conversations with commercial partners have played an instrumental role in shaping the new proposition.

Mark added:

“Not everyone will be surprised by what we are about to launch. Over the last six months, we have been sharing our thinking with many of the businesses and organisations we work with, listening carefully to their feedback and challenging ourselves about what a modern business media platform should deliver.

“We are fortunate to work with more than 150 clients each year, and their experience, expectations and willingness to challenge our thinking have been invaluable.

“One message has been particularly clear. Businesses want more than visibility and advertising. They want meaningful engagement, credible journalism, stronger connections with their industries and regions, and opportunities to contribute to the conversations shaping the Welsh economy.

“That feedback has been central to our thinking, and it is reflected in the new editorial and commercial strategy we are preparing to launch.”

Central to the relaunch will be a new industry and regional editorial strategy, designed to strengthen Business News Wales’ coverage of the issues influencing economic development, business growth and investment across Wales.

Mark concluded:

“After 11 years, we are incredibly proud of what Business News Wales has achieved, but we are even more excited about where we are going next.

“Our ambition is to build something that delivers genuine value to the Welsh business community, moving beyond traditional advertising, promotional and vanity media to create a more influential, useful and connected business news platform.

“Tuesday 27th October represents the beginning of that next chapter, and we look forward to sharing it with everyone.”
