Bridgend Firm Supports NASA Artemis II Mission

Spectrum Technologies Ltd have supported the successful launch of NASA’s Artemis II mission, contributing advanced laser wire processing technology used in the manufacture of the electrical wiring system for the Orion spacecraft.

The firm supplied its specialist Nova laser wire processing system to Lockheed Martin Space, Denver Colorado, where it was used in the manufacture of the complete electrical wiring system for the Orion space capsule. Orion contains more than 20 miles of wiring on board that connect its avionics, sensors, power systems, and other onboard hardware complex wiring systems. These systems demand the highest levels of precision, reliability, and performance, reflecting the critical nature of crewed spaceflight.

The company’s technology enables the precise identification and processing of complex wiring systems used in demanding environments, where performance and traceability are essential.

The Orion spacecraft plays a central role in the Artemis programme, designed to carry astronauts beyond low Earth orbit and support future missions to the Moon and Mars.

Founded in 1989, Spectrum Technologies is a world leader in advanced laser wire processing equipment. The company operates globally through its facilities in the UK, USA, and Asia-Pacific, supporting customers across aerospace, defence, medical, rail, automotive, and other high-reliability industries.
