Bluestone National Park Resort is celebrating a record-breaking year for week-long stays.
Traditionally known as a short-break destination, Bluestone has seen families turning to Pembrokeshire for their main summer holiday, it said.
This summer the resort recorded its highest proportion of seven-night stays since opening in 2008. In August alone, almost one in three families (32%) stayed for a full week or more – a 36% increase from last year (23.5%).
July and August combined saw the longest average stays at the resort in five years (4.64 nights in July, 4.68 in August) compared to the Welsh average of 3.6 nights last year.
Guests are also travelling from further afield, with significant growth in seven-night bookings from regions such as Cumbria (+85%), Essex (+81%) and Derbyshire (+73.9%), compared to last year.
Sarah Chapman, Sales and Marketing Director from Bluestone, said:
“Families are rethinking how they holiday. Rising travel costs, unpredictable global events and a desire for sustainability are all driving more people to choose UK destinations for their main summer break – and this year’s fantastic weather has only strengthened that trend.
“At Bluestone, we’re seeing guests plan further ahead, with many booking six–12 months in advance, and 87% telling us they’re likely to holiday in the UK again this year. It’s great to see guests are wanting to return to Pembrokeshire year on year too.
Bluestone also recently retained its title as Wales’ #1 holiday park and third in the UK in the latest Which? rankings for the fourth consecutive year.
