Bangor City Stadium has officially opened the Hogan 4G Arena, developed in partnership with the Cymru Football Foundation’s Fit-For-Future Facilities Programme.
The announcement follows landmark funding confirmed in June, enabling the delivery of the pioneering surface. After a summer of construction the stadium now boasts a state-of-the-art 4G playing facility for use by both club teams and the wider community. The next-generation synthetic pitch technology is designed to offer enhanced durability, reduced maintenance, and consistent year-round performance.
The stadium has also announced a three-year naming rights partnership with the Hogan Group. Under this partnership, the facility will be known as the “Hogan 4G Arena.”
Bangor-born Wrexham and Wales forward Nathan Broadhead also visited the stadium in support of the new 4G pitch. Broadhead, who began his youth career locally before progressing through Everton’s academy and establishing himself as a senior Wales international, spoke with staff during his visit and expressed his enthusiasm for the investment in grassroots facilities in his hometown.
Lee Dixon, Director of Bangor City Stadium, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce our partnership with Hogan Group, with both organisations investing in grassroots sports, and a company which fits the club's ethos, ambition and values.
“We feel the two organisations, club and company, are aligned, and this partnership starts a significant investment into grassroots football in which thousands of local children will benefit from much-needed sporting activities and facilities.
“The facilities have not only been backed by the FAW and CFF with significant investment, but also by a significant contribution from our club and partners.
“Our chairman Cllr Nick Pritchard has been pivotal to the investment and driving force behind our investment, along with Hogan's support, which supports our ambition and corporate social responsibility. This will pump prime our Community programmes for 2026 and future academy business plan.”
Natalie Hogan, Director of Hogan Group, said:
“Hogan Group is proud to announce a new partnership with the Bangor 4G Pitch, marking an exciting step forward in supporting local sport, community development, and high-quality facilities in the region.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to providing opportunities for athletes, teams, and community groups to train and compete in a modern, inclusive, and well-maintained environment. The new 4G surface offers top-class playing conditions year-round, and we are thrilled to play a role in enhancing access and supporting its long-term success.
“We look forward to working closely with the Bangor 4G Pitch team to enrich local sport, strengthen community engagement, and contribute to the growth of grassroots participation across the area.
“Together, we’re building a stronger sporting future for Bangor.”
Director at the Cymru Football Foundation, Aled Lewis, said:
“We are thrilled to be installing the UK's first full-size 4G pitch at Bangor City Stadium. At the Cymru Football Foundation we are passionate about testing and trialling innovative approaches and embracing new technology to deliver the best facilities for our communities and this project represents a significant milestone in the development of artificial pitch technology. I'd like to thank Nantporth C.I.C, Sports Labs and Tiger Turf for their support in developing this project.”
