Anglesey Based Craft Brewery Releases Limited-edition Brew

Anglesey based craft brewery Bragdy Mona has teamed up with local artist Lisa Eurgain Taylor to celebrate an important milestone in style, with the release of a limited-edition brew called Paradwys.

The new beer featuring Lisa’s artwork on the label went on sale on 21st August. Bragdy Mona was established in 2018 by seven friends, who saw an opportunity to create craft beer with a distinct Welsh twist. Whilst the island and its heritage shapes the brewery’s identity, inspiration for their beer is taken from across the globe, and its latest offering is no different.

After working hard to establish the brewery and perfect the recipes, August 2019 saw the release of their first beer, Pabo. Over the last twelve months the brewery has gone from strength to strength, reaching out to beer lovers across Wales and beyond.

Head Brewer, Huw Jones said:

“It’s been a very busy, but fantastic first year for us, our beer has been very well received locally and further afield. We are thankful for the incredible support we have received and the amazing reviews we’ve had for our brews.”

The team also know that having a strong brand is vital. Working with local graphic designer Sïan Angharad who has been commissioned to design the labels, the brewery has had great feedback on the look of their cans.

Huw explained:

“As well as how our beer tastes we have focussed from day one on the style of our cans, as we believe that in a crowded market, we need to stand out.”

Now, with Mona’s latest limited-edition, Paradwys, a juicy and hazy New England Pale Ale style beer, set to be launched this week, the team were keen to build on their strong visual brand. Artist Lisa Taylor has ensured they can do just that.

Huw added:

“We knew Lisa was a fan of our beer as we are of her art, so when the opportunity to work together came up, we jumped at the chance. We have chosen one of her most striking pictures ‘Tranquil Haze’ as a backdrop to the label. As it is a hazy beer, we thought that it was a perfect match.”

Lisa said:

“I’m really looking forward to seeing, and tasting, the end product, it’s a great opportunity to introduce my art to a wider audience, and the launch coincides with the re-opening of my exhibition at Oriel Mon which is fantastic.”

With a full year of trading under their belts, and celebrations underway, the Bragdy Mona team are planning for the future, with work to expand their brewing capacity already underway.

Focussing on the developing the business and with an increased focus on local produce as a result of the pandemic, Rhys Evans,  another member of the team said:

“We feel that we are now strongly placed to expand the business and to take the next step forward. We have had to respond to a number of challenges recently, but we are clear about how we want to develop, with the help of the Arfor Programme Grant and our own investment we will be doubling our capacity over the next few months – it’s an exciting time for us.”
