Residents in Butetown and surrounding communities of Cardiff are invited to join A Taste of Care, a cultural celebration and careers event taking place later this month.
Organised by the Cardiff and Vale Regional Workforce Partnership Board in partnership with WeCare Wales, the event seeks to celebrate the diversity and impact of the city’s care workforce as well as showcase employment opportunities within the sector to the local community.
Taking place at Butetown Community Centre on Friday, March 20 from 12pm to 5pm, the event will blend food, dance, workshops and community conversations to highlight career paths available in adult social care, social work and childcare in the city.
Visitors will enjoy a programme of performances, including Eastern‑inspired dancers incorporating elements of Welsh folklore and history, Afro‑Caribbean drummers and interactive workshops and educational talks exploring care, culture and community.
There’ll also be the opportunity to discuss employment opportunities, training options and support available for anyone considering a role in care.
Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Cllr Leonora Thomson, said:
“Care workers play an essential role in supporting people across our city, and one of the strengths of workforce is its rich diversity. The ‘A Taste of Care’ event is a fantastic chance for local residents in Butetown and other parts of the city to discover what care work can offer while celebrating the cultures and communities that keep our care sector thriving.”
Attendance to the event is free. Pre‑registration is encouraged.
