Monmouthshire Rural Support Centre (MRSC) has received the joint 2026 CPRW Rural Wales Award from the Monmouthshire and Newport & Valleys Branches of CPRW, The Welsh Countryside Charity, recognising its outstanding contribution to the wellbeing and resilience of farming and rural communities.
The award was presented on in August at the MRSC Hub at Raglan Livestock Centre.
MRSC provides free, confidential support to farmers, agricultural workers and rural families, including welfare and benefits advice, mental health drop-ins, basic health screenings and access to specialist guidance on legal, family and farming matters.
For CPRW, the award reflects a wider truth: a healthy countryside depends on healthy, resilient rural communities.
The Hub's location at Raglan Livestock Centre is a particular strength, bringing practical and professional support into a familiar setting at the heart of the farming community.
Vic Warren, CPRW Newport and Valleys Branch, said:
“A healthy Welsh countryside depends on healthy, resilient rural communities. The Monmouthshire Rural Support Centre provides exactly the kind of practical, trusted support that can make a real difference to farmers, agricultural workers and rural families.
“By bringing that support into a familiar rural setting, MRSC makes help easier to access. CPRW is privileged to recognise such an important service and warmly commends everyone involved.”
Matthew Daley, MRSC, said:
“For the farming community of South East Wales, preserving the wonderful environment that is both our workplace and our livelihood comes naturally. At MRSC, we are committed to helping farmers and their families access the support they need -whether medical, business-related, legal or indeed just a good old chat at the market – so that these hardworking people can continue to be guardians and champions of our beautiful countryside for generations to come.
“On behalf of the community we support, we are deeply grateful to CPRW for awarding us the Rural Award 2026. This recognition means a great deal to us and reflects the dedication, resilience, and stewardship of the farming families who at the heart of all our work.”
The Centre was jointly proposed for the award by CPRW's Monmouthshire and Newport & Valleys Branches.
The branches hope the award will both celebrate the work already being undertaken and help raise awareness of the support available through the Hub.
The CPRW Rural Wales Awards recognise individuals, organisations and projects making an outstanding contribution to the countryside and rural life in Wales.
