National Productivity Week Session to Hear Party Positions on Welsh Economy

Political party representatives are to set out their positions on business, productivity and the Welsh economy at a Cardiff Business School event taking place ahead of the Senedd election.

The panel session, titled Party Plans for Business and the Economy, forms part of National Productivity Week and will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 2:30pm to 4pm at the Executive Education Suite in the Postgraduate Teaching Centre at Cardiff Business School.

The event will include opening remarks from political party representatives, followed by a moderated discussion chaired by Robert Lloyd Griffiths, director of ICAEW in Wales and chair of the Wales Productivity Forum. A live audience Q&A will also take place, with participation available both in person and online.

The session is designed to be an opportunity for SMEs, business leaders, academics, policymakers and other stakeholders to hear directly from party representatives shortly before the Senedd election.

Discussion points listed for the session include economic policy, SME support, skills and talent development, and finance, investment and growth.

The event is part of National Productivity Week 2026, running from April 27 to May 1, which is focused on how productivity can support jobs, businesses and communities across the UK.

Attendance is open to those with an interest in economic policy, productivity and the Welsh economy, including SME owners and leaders, business organisations, public sector professionals, researchers and academics.

The session will be delivered as a hybrid event, with attendees able to join either in person or online. Participants are asked to select their preferred format during registration.
