Expanding Horizons, a specialist support provider based in Cwmbran, has been recognised on the national stage after its team secured two national winners and multiple finalists at the Great British Care Awards 2026.

The awards took place at the ICC in Birmingham, bringing together care professionals from across the UK to celebrate excellence, compassion and innovation within the sector.

Expanding Horizons’ success at both the regional and national awards comes as the organisation celebrates a landmark year, having recently marked more than 20 years in business while continuing to grow across South Wales.

At the Great British Care Awards (National Finals) 2026, Paul Howells, a Home Care Support Worker, was named Winner of the Home Care Worker Award while Aimee Green, People, Culture and Wellbeing Manager, was named Winner of the Workforce Development Award.

Both had progressed through the regional stages before achieving national recognition. Judges praised the passion, leadership and clear impact of their work, and their commitment to improving life-changing outcomes for colleagues and the people they support.

Aimee was recognised for her belief in people’s potential and her innovative approach, having made a strong impact on the sector in just two years.

Paul was praised for his commitment to high-quality, person-centred care, combining clinical expertise with a compassionate approach that supports both individuals and the wider team.

The organisation also saw success at the Welsh Regional Finals last year at the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff, and at the South West Regional Finals at Ashton Gate, Bristol. The awards recognise outstanding practice across the care sector, from frontline delivery to leadership and workforce development.

Achievements included Leah Webb winning the Care Assessor Award and the organisation’s Area Managers winning the Care Team Award at the Welsh Regional Finals, and Expanding Horizons winning the Co Production Award at the South West Regional Finals in Bristol, with all being named as finalists in their respective categories at the National Finals.

Ellis Jenkins, Executive Director at Expanding Horizons, said:

“Recognition through these awards is incredibly important for our sector. They highlight the innovation, commitment, and impact that organisations like ours deliver every day. For us, the nominations and wins reaffirm the value of our work and the dedication of our teams. They show that what we are doing is not only making a difference, but setting a standard for excellence across the industry.

“I would encourage anyone who is passionate about making a difference in care to consider joining our growing team and being part of our next chapter.”

The awards success comes during a period of continued growth for Expanding Horizons. In May 2025, the organisation acquired Enable Care Services South Wales Ltd following funding support from NatWest, strengthening its position across the region.

With demand for specialist support continuing to grow, Expanding Horizons expects to create new roles across its supported living and residential services over the next two years.
