Shaw healthcare, the UK’s largest employee-owned provider healthcare provider, has appointed James Bullion CBE to its Board of Directors.
Headquartered in Cardiff, Shaw operates more than 60 care homes and services across England, Wales and Scotland, providing residential, nursing, and specialist care to over 2,100 people. The appointment of James as Non-Executive Director strengthens Shaw’s strategic leadership at a time of significant sector change and reform.
James, a well-respected figure in the UK’s adult social care industry, has over 30 years’ experience in senior leadership roles and recently served as Interim Chief Executive and Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Integrated Care at the Care Quality Commission (CQC). He has worked extensively with Local Government Association (LGA), the NHS, and local authorities on social care reform and system improvement.
James’ career includes executive leadership roles at Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex County Councils, national leadership within ADASS as President, and made pivotal contributions to national policy while co-chairing the Discharge Oversight Group supporting challenged Integrated Care Boards (ICBs).
Russell Brown, Chief Executive of Shaw, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome James to our Board. His leadership and deep understanding of regulation and policy will be invaluable as we evolve to meet the needs of the changing care landscape in the UK. As an employee-owned organisation, Shaw puts people at the heart of everything we do, a vision shared by James, and his appointment strengthens our commitment to delivering the quality of care that we would want for our own loved ones.”
