AerFin, the aviation asset specialist that buys, sells, leases and repairs aircraft, engines and parts, has announced the successful completion of a 2017-vintage Airbus A320neo disassembly carried out by SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) at its facility in the Philippines, SIAEP.
This the first teardown of an A320neo in the Philippines, and is also SIAEP’s first-ever aircraft teardown. Completed nose-to-tail in 30 days, the disassembly will make high-quality used serviceable parts from the world’s most in-demand narrowbody platform readily available to operators and MROs across Asia-Pacific.
The aircraft, powered by PW1100 engines, forms part of AerFin’s growing pipeline of A320neo acquisitions. By partnering with SIAEP to complete the teardown within the region, AerFin – which has its global headquarters in Newport – is reducing lead times and strengthening supply chains to help customers access serviceable engines and components where and when they need them.
Paul Ashcroft, SVP of Asia Pacific at AerFin, said:
“Completing this teardown in the Philippines highlights our commitment to the Asia-Pacific market. Locating engines and components within the region allows us to respond faster to customer demand, reducing lead times and ensuring operators can access the right assets when they need them. It’s a clear demonstration of AerFin’s investment in supporting growth across this dynamic aviation hub.”
Bruno Gaston Bousquet, General Manager of SIA Engineering (Philippines) Corporation, added:
“We are delighted to support AerFin with this A320neo project. Our collaboration reflects a shared focus on quality, sustainability and efficiency, and ensures valuable components are recovered and returned to service to benefit operators across the region.”
This teardown with SIAEP in the Philippines follows the recent disassembly of four 2017-vintage A320neos at Tarmac Aerosave’s facility in Tarbes, France. Each teardown is expected to release approximately 1,400 parts into the aviation aftermarket, including serviceable PW1100 engines which remain highly sought after for leasing or trading in a supply-constrained market.
AerFin now has teardown programmes active in both Europe and Asia Pacific and an extensive warehousing operation across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
Simon Goodson, Chief Executive Officer at AerFin, said:
“This project marks another important step in our global strategy to strengthen support for the A320neo family and PW1100 engine solutions. By working with SIAEP in the Philippines, we’re able to position engines and components where our customers need them most – reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in keeping fleets flying efficiently and reliably.”
