Women Angels of Wales (WAW) is launching a new podcast series to dispel myths around angel investment and encourage more women to become investors or to seek investment for their businesses.
The Women Angels of Wales Investment Series will introduce some of the business angels using their experience, skills and networks to help other women build great Welsh businesses.
The series will explore who angel investment is for, how the process works, and what makes it a supportive and empowering network for investors as well as for women entrepreneurs across Wales.
WAW is Wales’ first female focused angel investing community and network. Founded in 2022 to help female-led businesses, WAW has now grown into a thriving and active community of female angel investors.
Jointly supported by the Development Bank of Wales and the British Business Bank, it has access to co-investment of up to £250,000 per deal from the £8 million Development Bank of Wales’ Angel Co-investment Fund.
The first podcast episode – Becoming an Angel – explores how angel investment works and how to get involved as an investor.
The podcast series is hosted by presenter and broadcaster Sian Lloyd, who is also a member of WAW. She is joined in the first episode by WAW lead investors Jill Jones and Rachel Ashley as well as Nicola Rylett-Jones and Sarah Rees, who are also members of WAW, and Carol Hall, Co-Investment Network Manager with the Development Bank of Wales.
The podcast is produced in collaboration with Business News Wales as part of its specialist podcast production service. It is available on all major platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Jill said:
“Women Angel of Wales is changing the face of investment. We're here to support women as investors and as founders.
“Before Women Angels of Wales was formed there was just one active female investor in Angels Invest Wales. We now have 57 wider group members and we have 26 fully signed up and active members. So within just a few years it's been a huge growth and it's really changing the investment landscape.
“Angel investing is about people. It's about investors working together with a shared commitment to support founders.
“If you'd like to know more as a founder or as a potential investor please contact us. We're friendly, we're welcoming and we'd love to speak to you.”
