Share Your Views on Chepstow Regeneration Proposals

A public consultation launched this month for residents and businesses in and around Chepstow to gather feedback on ideas being proposed within the Transforming Chepstow Masterplan.

The plan will provide a strategic regeneration framework for Chepstow, guiding future regeneration investment to ensure that the town is attractive, vibrant, and well-placed to serve existing and future residents and visitors.

Monmouthshire County Council, working with Chepstow Town Council, is holding two initial face-to-face events and is encouraging locals to attend to find out more and share their thoughts. The first session is taking place on Saturday 8th October at the Palmer Centre, Upper Nelson Street, from 10am until 5pm. On Tuesday 11th October the team will also be at Bulwark Community Centre between 10am and 8pm. Exhibition boards from these two events will then be available to view at Chepstow Library from the afternoon of Wednesday 12th October.

Information about the Transforming Chepstow Masterplan can be found on the Council’s website at monmouthshire.gov.uk/transforming-chepstow-masterplan along with a link to the online survey, for capturing views and comments. The survey will also be available in a paper format at the two face-to-face sessions, and throughout the consultation period (until 5pm, 30th October 2022) from Chepstow Library and the offices of Chepstow Town Council.

Deputy Leader of Monmouthshire County Council and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, Cllr. Paul Griffiths said:

“We have been listening to people in Chepstow and this draft Masterplan reflects what we have heard. It includes ideas for making Chepstow an even better place. Please tell us now whether we have heard you correctly. Are these good ideas? This masterplan is our entry ticket into making bids for funding from Welsh Government and others. We cannot guarantee that we will gain funds but without a masterplan that people support we will not even be allowed to make the applications. We need your views.”

The Mayor of Chepstow, Cllr. Marg Griffiths says

“I am pleased that Chepstow Town Council has been working with Monmouthshire County Council and people in Chepstow to develop the ideas behind this public consultation. Once we hear your views on the ideas for our future, we can go forward and seek the funding that Chepstow needs”

Once the consultation has closed and the feedback gathered, a report of consultation will be published. The draft plan will then be updated to reflect the comments that were received and a final copy of the Transforming Chepstow Masterplan will be made available online.
