18 Stadiums, 15km Run and £6000 Raised for Sparkle Charity

Last week (28 July 2024) the team at South Wales Sports Grounds spent a tough 15-hour day visiting 18 iconic stadiums across South Wales, in a fundraising event to support Sparkle, the charity the company has chosen to support in celebration of 60 years in business, a milestone they are celebrating in 2024.

Sparkle supports children with disabilities and development difficulties, and their families.

Part of a year-long programme of events to support Sparkle, this ambitious challenge revolved around their passion for sports and grounds. The mission was to complete two laps around each of South Wales’s major league club pitches. This list included clubs from leagues such as the Cymru Premier football league, Elite Rugby Domestic League, Regional rugby clubs, Championship football league, and national stadiums.

Setting off at 4am they first headed to Haverfordwest County AFC before heading across Wales back to complete the mission in Newport.

Some of the Stadiums visited included Scarlets Rugby, Ospreys Rugby Ltd, Swansea City Football Club, , Aberavon Rugby, Penybont FC, Barry Town United AFC, Cardiff City Football Club, Principality Stadium, and Newport County.

Sean McDermott, Managing Director said,

‘We are delighted to support Sparkle and to give back to a vital charity in our 60th year. The day was hard work, but great fun and it was heart-warming to receive the support of the business and sporting community across South Wales. We are now looking forward to further fund raising events throughout this milestone year for us.’
