Cardiff-based technology and online booking specialist, UpriseVSI has been chosen as the official design and digital supplier for the Sam Warburton Testimonial Year.
Following their support of the Gethin Jenkins Testimonial Year in 2017, UpriseVSI will be providing design and digital services to help Wales’ most capped captain, and two-time captain of the British & Irish Lions, celebrate a glittering career to date, while helping raise money for NSPCC Cymru, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Velindre Cancer Centre, and Demelza Hospice, the official charities of the Testimonial Year.
The UpriseVSI association with Sam Warburton dates back to the design of the ‘SW7’ logo; first used in 2015 for a Sam Warburton Charity Dinner at the Principality Stadium. It was an event that raised more than £10,000 for the Velindre Cancer Centre in Whitchurch, Cardiff, for which he is a patron, plus a further £10,000 for the ‘Stay Strong for Ows’ campaign, in aid of former Blues team-mate Owen Williams, who suffered a life-changing injury while playing rugby.
This association has continued into Sam’s Testimonial Year, with the design and development of the official website, as well as the design of a 64-page programme, which will be distributed at each event. The programme features messages from rugby stars past and present including Sir Gareth Edwards, Brian O’Driscoll and Leigh Halfpenny. There are also messages of congratulations from across the sporting world from names such as Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, the football team he’s supported since childhood.
The SW7 Testimonial Year kicked-off with a James Bond themed event on 1st May at the renowned Hurlingham Club in South West London. Other events are scheduled to be held across North and South Wales, and a dinner ahead of the 2019 Wales V England Six Nations match, to be held at Cardiff Arms Park. The design team at UpriseVSI will be designing all of the printed materials for each of the events.
Speaking ahead of the first event, Sam said:
“It’s great to be working with such a well-respected Welsh design and development agency over the course of my Testimonial Year. Having past experience and knowledge about the quality and professionalism of their work, in particular the support they have provided the testimonials of some of my team-mates for club and country, I know that UpriseVSI will deliver the right image and message to help us achieve our goals of raising both awareness and much-needed money for my designated charities; while ensuring that everyone has some fun along the way.”
The Sam Warburton Testimonial Year is supported by WRU and Cardiff Blues. The committee is led by Chairman, Hywel Peterson and also features UpriseVSI’s Design Director, Geraint Manning.
