The Environmental Manager for leading Welsh soft drinks manufacturer Radnor Hills has graduated from Cranfield University with a Masters in Business Sustainability.
Ben Price, who joined the Powys based business nine years ago as a Quality & Technical Assistant, has developed the company's environmental management systems.
Ben, who studied for his Masters part time for three years, said:
“I've been fortunate to learn not just from the university but also from my cohort and the key stakeholders in Radnor Hills.
“My Masters has given me the confidence to apply that knowledge into what we're doing as a business ensuring that we can enhance the great sustainable practices that we follow.
“For our site and the products we make we are really fortunate to be in this area of the world, within Wales, surrounded by our boreholes, which are our natural resource.
“We have won awards for our sustainability values and we want to ensure that we maintain and respect our magnificent environment while carrying out our manufacturing activities.
“Under our site we have a giant aquifer which is fed by the valleys over 20 miles upstream of us in Radnorshire and recharged from the natural surface waters and rain water. As it comes through the valley to us, this water is naturally filtered through a bedrock of sandstone and gravel, until it reaches the aquifer – our water source.
“Our water is naturally clean and of a very high quality. In fact, it's so good that you could actually drink it straight from the borehole. We pump it straight from our boreholes to the factory in seconds where it is the key ingredient in all our drinks.”

Radnor Hills is aiming to be net zero by 2045 and is committed to carrying out its business as sustainably as possible. The company was the first winner of the Excellence in Sustainability Award sponsored by the Welsh Government.
Radnor Hills produces over 400 million units of drinks annually.
