A not-for-profit construction networking and altruistic club for South East Wales has launched.
The Construction Club Cambria is aimed at those who work in the construction sector to network, develop business partnerships and raise money for local good causes.
Initially chaired for a year by Gareth Hooper, CEO of DPP Planning in Cardiff, the club will be holding events, seminars, and networking events across the region with its first event, an Autumn Lunch, planned for Friday 24th October at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff.
Other members of the club include Directors Justin Thomas of Bristol Airport, Laura Mitchell of Cambria Consulting, and Matt Russell of SLR Consulting. Committee members are Ian Rees of Kier Construction, Craig Jones at Holder Mathias Architects, Andrew Gibson of Avison Young, Nicola Jones of Gleeds, James Gundy of Blake Morgan, Ffion Lanchbury of Rio Architects and Sarah Jones of Atkins Realis.
The Construction Club Cambria has been founded on the model created by The Construction Club organisation in Swansea in 2022. The Swansea networking Club has been a great success for the construction community in south west Wales, hosting numerous events and raising much-needed funds for local charitable causes.
Gareth Hooper said of the new organisation:
“We are very proud to be launching The Construction Club Cambria to our sector colleagues. We wanted to create a club where we can network, share industry best practice, as well as hold events, seminars and webinars where lasting business collaborations can be made.
“The great thing about organisations such as The Construction Club Cambria, is that we can also do all of this while raising money for good local causes. For our inaugural year we have decided that our charity of the year will be Make a Wish and so all of our charitable funds from our first event will be going there.”
Gareth added:
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with The Construction Club in Swansea. The guidance and support they have provided has been invaluable in the foundation of The Construction Club Cambria.
“With two Construction Clubs now active across Wales, we’re entering a new era of collaboration and community impact from the construction industry. We believe this will open the door to even more meaningful networking opportunities and charitable initiatives across Wales.”
The Construction Club Cambria’s inaugural event, will be sponsored by Cambria Consulting and Gleeds LLP, where the club will be raising money for the Make A Wish charity, with entertainment provided by The Noise Next Door.
