Barry-based commercial cleaning company Môr Cleaning plans to create up to 50 new jobs over the next 12 months as it sets its sights on expanding its commercial presence across South Wales.
Founded by Kirsty Hosking, the multi-award-winning business has appointed entrepreneur and business growth specialist Rayner Mayers as Non-Executive Director. Rayner brings more than 18 years of business and commercial cleaning experience, including first-hand experience of building and scaling her previous Welsh commercial cleaning company to 358 employees.
The appointment comes as Môr Cleaning prepares to increase its commercial client base while investing in its people, systems and management structure needed to support a larger organisation.
Kirsty Hosking, Founder and Managing Director of Môr Cleaning, said:
“We've reached a really exciting stage in Môr Cleaning's journey. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built, but I'm also very clear about where I want the business to go next.
“As founders, it can be very easy to become consumed by the day-to-day running of a business. You know your clients, your team and your operation inside out, but there comes a point when you have to lift your head, look further ahead and start making decisions for the business you want to become, not simply the business you are today.
“That was a major reason for bringing Rayner into Môr Cleaning. When I was considering who I wanted alongside me, it was important to find someone who had actually walked the path we're now embarking on.”
Kirsty added:
“Rayner built a Welsh commercial cleaning business to 358 employees, built high performing teams and achieved six consecutive years of recognition in the Wales Fast Growth 50 before successfully leading a Management Buy Out (MBO) in 2021.
“She's experienced first-hand the opportunities, pressures and challenges that come with scaling, and that experience is invaluable to me.
“Our ambition is to create up to 50 new jobs over the next 12 months while continuing to expand our commercial presence across South Wales. But I want us to grow properly. That means investing in our people, developing strong leaders and ensuring the decisions we're making today supports the business we want Môr Cleaning to become.
“I also believe there is a huge opportunity in the market right now to raise standards across the commercial cleaning industry. Too many businesses have come to accept poor service, weak compliance and low expectations as the norm.
“Clients are often left dealing with inadequate health and safety practices, poor cross-contamination controls, harsh cleaning products that can negatively impact health and wellbeing, and being supplied cleaning teams that are not properly managed, trained or supported.
“At Môr Cleaning, we're committed to showing that there is a better way. We believe businesses should never have to choose between quality, compliance and value. As we grow, our focus will remain on delivering safe, professional and people-focused cleaning services that genuinely improve workplaces for both our clients and our teams.”
Rayner's experience extends beyond her previous business. Following her exit in 2021, she founded Falcon Cleaning Academy, through which she works alongside cleaning business owners and leadership teams across the UK.
Today, she works as a Non-Executive Director, Strategic Board Advisor and Business Growth Consultant, supporting business owners with strategic planning, governance, leadership development, operational performance and sustainable growth.
Alongside her board and advisory work, Rayner serves as an Independent Cleaning Auditor for Birmingham Airport, independently assessing cleaning standards and supporting continuous improvement across one of the UK's busiest airports.
