Businesses across Wales are being urged to join Spring Clean Cymru 2023 and help pick up the litter that has blighted our beaches, parks and streets.

Over the past couple of years, outdoor spaces and places have mattered to us more than ever, as more people embraced and grew to love them throughout the pandemic.

Keep Wales Tidy is teaming up with every local authority for this year’s Spring Clean Cymru, a rewarding opportunity for businesses of all sizes to get involved.

Spring Clean Cymru is part of Caru Cymru – a Welsh phrase meaning ‘Love Wales’ – Keep Wales Tidy’s biggest ever initiative to eradicate litter and waste and this year’s event takes place between Friday 17 March – Sunday 2 April 2023.

Last year’s Spring Clean Cymru was the biggest ever, with an incredible 17,000 volunteers getting involved in 364 events.

Not only does litter cost Wales roughly £70 million to remove each year, but it also has devastating effects on our marine and local wildlife. The RSPCA reports on average receiving 14 calls a day about animals affected by litter, with calls spiking in the summer months.

Keep Wales Tidy is hoping to inspire the businesses of Wales to come and help spring clean an area of their choice, whether that be parks, beaches, outdoor spaces or their surrounding area.

Owen Derbyshire, Keep Wales Tidy CEO said:

“Everyone shares a responsibility to keep the place we love tidy and national campaigns such as Spring Clean Cymru provide a timely opportunity for businesses and employees to get involved.”

This year’s event takes place between Friday 17 March – Sunday 2 April 2023, businesses wishing to register their own clean-up event or join one that’s already organised, visit https: Keep Wales Tidy – Spring Clean Cymru
