Investing £10m in new technology and innovation has resulted in a massive ramping up of production capabilities at 2 Sisters food manufacturing site in South Wales.

2 Sisters is Britain’s largest prepared meals producer in the UK with an impressive list of clients include Marks and Spencer.  2 Sisters Rogerstone site near Newport is the biggest prepared meals production area in Europe. The £10m investment has created a dedicated oriental food ‘pod’, which will act as the foundation for growth within the Meal Solutions division. The pod incorporates an automated coating line and the latest cooling technology. This enables the company to supply a much wider range of meals with improved consistency and better eating quality. The new in-line cooling system has enabled the site’s environmental footprint to be reduced. In the long term, this new investment will allow the site to expand and innovate pushing forward the boundaries of what is possible within the prepared meals sector.

Simon Wookey, managing director of 2 Sisters Meal Solutions said,

“The significant investment in Rogerstone will lay the foundations for the future and acknowledges the loyalty and capability of our colleagues in South Wales.  We are investing millions in our factories and embedding a cross functional lean culture to deliver a gold standard performance.”

Employees agree and saying that it has quickly proved to be an important development for their business.  According to General Manager Lisa Hancock,

“We’ve always been very proud and passionate of what we do here at Rogerstone and colleagues are now thinking differently following the investment, constantly looking at how we can improve the quality and consistency of our products for the benefit of our customers.  The new extension has been great news to the site on many levels and this will allow us to build on our recipe for success.”

A Marks & Spencer spokesperson added;

“Working with our suppliers to invest in our supply chain as we grow our food business is an important part of our strategy.

The new oriental hub at Rogerstone Park is an important step forward for the site and one that will help deliver innovative and exciting meals for our customers.”
