Party planners, brides to be, and conference co-ordinators can now book a unique range of fully inclusive event packages at one of Wales’s most iconic buildings.

Science discovery centre Techniquest has diversified its offering over the past 12 months to begin catering for a range of exciting events and occasions.

The educational charity features an expansive exhibition space housing over 130 interactive exhibits which guests can explore, along with a state-of-the-art 360° Planetarium, a Science Theatre and private meeting room facilities.

If all that hasn’t convinced you to book your next event at Techniquest, then here’s five other reasons….

  1. Location, location, location

Located among some of Cardiff Bay’s favourite restaurants and coffee shops and just a five-minute drive to the city centre, the site is the perfect place to host an event.

Once guests arrive they will be able to soak up the beautiful bay views, thanks to its architecturally acclaimed building, featuring floor to ceiling windows.

It is easily accessible via the M4 motorway or A4232 link road into Cardiff, and just a few minutes’ walk to the train station. There is also ample parking nearby to cater for numerous guests.

  1. It’s all about the numbers

Techniquest can host events of all sizes, catering for a diverse range of business and social occasions from four guests up to 500!

Its main exhibition space can host up to 200 people for a dinner and 500 for a standing party. The newly refurbished Science Theatre is perfect for conferences of up to 85 delegates, with breakout rooms providing additional space for 30 delegates in the laboratory and 10 in the brand-new meeting facility.

The meeting rooms are also fitted with AV to make delivering presentations more effective.

  1. A venue with a difference

When it comes to booking a meeting or event with a difference – there really is nowhere like Techniquest!

The iconic building is home to some of Wales’s most engaging and exciting science exhibits which make for an interesting backdrop to any event.

Science communicators interact with guests during events to make the experience even more engaging and entertaining. They can also deliver team building activities and ice breakers to any conference package.

The exhibition space can accommodate a stage for awards, guest speakers or live entertainment. High quality audio visual partners can also help brand the venue with bespoke lighting, screens and other added extras.

  1. Flexible packages

In order to simplify the event planning process, Techniquest offers all-inclusive packages.

These can be tailored to meet specific event budgets, with individual quotes provided to help make planning even easier.

Whether you are planning a family event or catering for hundreds, they can create a special event to meet your specifications.

Techniquest’s range of exciting new packages include VIP Experiences, conferences, dinners and cocktail parties. The price per person includes venue hire, staffing, cloakroom facilities, security and catering.

  1. Take the stress out of event management

The expert team at Techniquest will work with you throughout the planning stages of the event, and will be there to deliver it on the day. The event manager will act as your main point of contact, who will liaise with the caterers and AV supplier on your behalf.

In the past year Techniquest has appointed two new events and conferencing partners to support its unique offering. South Wales-based Orchard Media and Events Group, assist Techniquest by supplying its technical and AV support, while award winning caterers, Cleverchefs provide the food and beverages for all its events.

Whether it’s a wedding with a difference, a business networking event, an awards ceremony, a dinner dance, or a science-themed Christmas party, Techniquest can deliver it all.

Techniquest offers interactive experiences that are accessible to all, and that have been enjoyed in its centre by over 4 million people since its inception in Cardiff in 1986.

History
Techniquest is the UK’s longest established science centre.

Founded in 1986, by Professor John Beetlestone and his colleagues from Cardiff University, its first site was the gas showroom opposite Cardiff Castle (now Burger King).

In 1988 it moved to a pre-fabricated industrial building in Cardiff Bay, with 100 exhibits; it was here that it launched its education programmes for schools.

In 1995 it moved to its current site, the UK’s first purpose-built science centre, in Cardiff Bay. The building was formerly a heavy engineering plant; Paul Koralek of ABK Architects designed Techniquest around the framework of the original building.
