Powering the Energy Island and its People
Join the IWA as they discuss the north Wales ‘Energy Island' and look at how we can create a secure and sustainable energy future for our community
Energy Island: creating a secure, prosperous and sustainable energy future
How we power our communities securely, reliably and sustainably sits at the heart of the vision for our collective net zero future. This is especially the case on Ynys Môn, where the opportunities ahead are many.
The Freeport announced earlier this year offers to deliver a transformative impact to the region and stimulate investment, with energy generation sitting at the core of this endeavour. But which projects have the best chance of having a positive impact on climate, communities and the local economy? What is the role of the public sector in providing a clear direction of travel? And how are the benefits of investment into renewables on Ynys Môn going to be felt by its people?
Delivered as part of the IWA’s ongoing partnership with Bangor University, this event will unpick the debate on energy in north Wales. In doing so, it will platform the current and future energy projects that offer to transform not only the region’s energy picture, but its economic future, too.
Join the IWA as we hear from stakeholders across the public, private and third sectors about their ambitions for the region’s energy future, and the role Ynys Môn can play in low carbon energy deployment.
