Gum Blitzer, the veteran-owned commercial cleaning company, has secured a landmark collaboration with Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council to revitalise its local town centres.

The six-month contract will see the removal of chewing gum from the streets of the valley's towns thanks to Gum Blitzer's state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly gum removal system.

“We are elated to have been chosen by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council for this pivotal project,” said Peter Davies, Managing Director of Gum Blitzer. “Our specialised cleaning services will ensure that the town centres in Tredegar, Bryn Mawr, Abertillery and Ebbw Vale are not only gum-free but are also more inviting and aesthetically pleasing for residents and visitors alike.”

The project is funded through a generous grant from Keep Britain Tidy and Wrigley's Chewing Gum called The Chewing Gum Task Force.

The grant allows councils throughout the UK to apply for up to £25,000 towards the costs of removing chewing gum from their streets, thereby supporting councils in their endeavour to foster cleaner and more welcoming town centres.

“We are incredibly pleased to collaborate with Gum Blitzer on this initiative,” said John Mewett from Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.

“Their commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable cleaning services align perfectly with our vision for cleaner, more vibrant town centres, and thanks to their specialist gum-removal and cleaning system, our town centres will not only be free of gum but graffiti and stains too,” he concluded.
