Carwyn Jones Joins Bridgend Ravens Board

Bridgend Ravens have confirmed the appointment of Carwyn Jones as a Director to the club’s management board.

Carwyn Jones is a former First Minster of Wales who represented Bridgend in what became the Senedd for twenty-two years.

He is now a consultant with Business News Wales a Professor at Aberystwyth University and works in media and broadcasting, having presented the S4C series Y Gem yn y Gwaed about the social history of Welsh rugby. He also sits on the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee of the Football Association of Wales.

A lifelong Bridgend Ravens fan and now club member, he was present when Bridgend played New Zealand in 1978 and Australia in 1981 as well as the six Cup Finals that Bridgend have played in.

Upon being appointed to the board of Bridgend Ravens, he said, 

‘I’m looking forward to help build a sustainable future for a club that I’ve supported for nearly fifty years. Bridgend has been an important area in the development of players at all levels of Welsh rugby and having a thriving Ravens is crucial to continuing that tradition.

For me, it’s a great honour to have been asked to join the Board and I look forward to working with all at the club in the future.’
