A new phase of homes is set to be built at Llanwern near Newport, after a land deal was finalised.

Housebuilder Bellway, which is currently building new homes at Monks Meadow, off Queensway, has bought a new parcel of land within this growing neighbourhood.

A reserved matters planning application for a development of 152 new homes ā€“ which will be known as Heronā€™s Mead ā€“ has been submitted to Newport City Council.

The new homes form part of the regeneration of the former Llanwern steelworks site, with outline permission for the overall development granted in 2010.

Bellwayā€™s plans for Heronā€™s Mead include two, three and four-bedroom houses, plus a selection of apartments and houses designated as affordable housing for local people. Childrenā€™s play areas are also included in the proposals.

Billie Oaten, Sales Director for Bellway Wales, said:

ā€œWe are delighted to have acquired a new parcel of land at Llanwern and hope our detailed plans will be approved by the local planning authority.

ā€œThereā€™s a growing need for new homes in the Newport area and weā€™ve carefully designed this new phase of development to meet the requirements of local buyers, whether theyā€™re first-time buyers, downsizers or growing families.

ā€œItā€™s a great location with good local amenities and easy access to major routes including the M4 ā€“ plus itā€™s just three miles from Newport city centre.

ā€œOur Monks Meadow development has been really popular with home-hunters in the area and weā€™re expecting similar levels of interest in this new phase.

ā€œIn the meantime, the final plots are now available to reserve at Monks Meadow and thereā€™s no time to waste for anyone hoping to make this popular phase of the development their home.ā€

Thereā€™s a choice of four-bedroom houses remaining for sale at Monks Meadow, priced from Ā£259,995. More information is available at bellway.co.uk.
