The 2019 Social Business Wales Awards took place on 24th September at Venue Cymru in Llandudno and recognises excellence amongst the social business sector in Wales.

For the first time, all winners are set to appear in a new Business News Wales podcast series designed to further shine the spotlight into Wales’ thriving social businesses sector.

The series will launch week commencing the 30th September and will be available on all mainstream podcast channels. Furthermore, Business News Wales’ 20,000 daily subscribers will get to hear the story of each winner.

The initiative follows a recent partnership between Social Business Wales and Business News Wales, who launched news channel Responsible Business News recently. The platform has been designed to showcase Welsh organisations which have created social business models, that look to promote equality, the environment and those businesses giving something back to the community.

This year the Social Business Wales Awards feature two headline categories – Wales Social Enterprise of the Year and Wales One to Watch, plus five other sector categories – Health and Social Care; Consumer Facing, Environmental; Education, Training and Employment; and Tech for Good.

Commenting on the Podcast series Mark Powney, Managing Director, Business News Wales said:

“It’s great to be hands on supporting the social business sector in Wales. “We are extremely supportive of social business and believe this model has a big role to play in shaping the Welsh economy over the next decade.”

Podcasts are a very effective way to communicate the good work that social businesses across Wales are achieving. It allows them to convey their passion for their business which cant be achieved through static written content.

Marketing Manager at the Wales Co-operative Centre, Catherine Evans commented:

“We are delighted that Business News Wales are able to offer this fantastic marketing opportunity for the Social Business Wales winners.  Podcasts are an effective, convenient and intimate way to demonstrate the good work going on within the sector.

The awards are an invaluable way to highlight the huge amount of positive social change all social enterprises are making across Wales and I look forward to showcasing the winner stories through this new innovative podcast series
