The City of Newport Business Club has announced the appointment of Kevin Ward Media Ltd to handle its public relations and communications.
The media, public relations and communications consultancy, run by former newspaper editor Kevin Ward, will work to raise the club’s profile in the Newport business community and promote its events.
The City of Newport Business Club presents four speaker-led dinner events each season.
The club brings together like-minded business people from Newport and the surrounding area to create an informal, friendly forum for discovery, discussion, debate and networking.
Kevin Ward Media was established earlier this year by former South Wales Argus editor Kevin Ward.
Mr Ward had a 32-year award-winning career as a journalist and newspaper executive, editing two daily newspapers.
“I am delighted to be working with the City of Newport Business Club.
“I said when I started my business that I intended to work with people who shared my passion for Newport and the Club certainly ticks all the boxes on that score.
“I’ll be working hard to raise the profile of the Club and its events, and using my extensive network of contacts in the city to do so.”
City of Newport Business Club chairman Dan Goulding said: “I am extremely pleased that Kevin has agreed to work with the City of Newport Business Club. He brings with him a huge amount of experience and expertise and, working together, we look forward to the club going from strength to strength”
The City of Newport Business Club’s final event of its current season takes place on Thursday, May 18, when Nick Battersby, the managing director of Chepstow-based Reid Lifting, will be the guest speaker.
Mr Battersby has been MD of Reid Lifting since 2000, growing the company from two to 42 people and from £250,000 to £5 million turnover with exports representing 50 per cent of sales.
The company has become established as the pioneer in the design and manufacture of lightweight, portable lifting equipment for manual lifting applications and has won the Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2006 and a double Award for Innovation and International Trade in 2013.
Reid products are used across a wide range of sectors in applications ranging from lifting sewage pumps in waste water treatment, to lock gate replacement by British Waterways, to the movement of priceless monuments in the world’s leading museums such as the Vatican, and the British and Victoria & Albert Museums.
The company has recently invested £4 million in a purpose-built factory in Chepstow, new machine tools, new systems and additional staff ready for the next phase of the company’s growth.
The event takes place at the Augusta Suite, Celtic Manor Resort at 5.30pm. For ticket and membership details, please go to www.newportbusinessclub.co.uk
