The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is bringing the Institute of Travel & Tourism’s (ITT) Future You Wales conference and careers fair once again to Swansea’s Arena on February 27.

Hosted by UWTSD, the Event is part of a series of Institute of Travel and Tourism Events organised across the UK, and the Welsh event is also supported by ABTA and the Institute of Hospitality. The annual event is open to schools, colleges, university students and alumni, anyone working in the industry or those interested in careers in travel, tourism, events, hospitality, or leisure are also welcome.

It will be a fast-paced, interactive event with a range of speakers and video links from across the globe including successful UWTSD alumni sharing their stories and experiences and will provide the opportunity for attendees to network and meet with industry experts.

The focus for this year's event is Wales to the World and will include travel companies, tour operators, travel agents, tourist attractions, cruise ships, events venues, arenas, stadiums, sports tours, hotels, resorts, destinations, conference centres, festivals, outdoor activities, and hospitality providers – giving students a taster of the wide range of opportunities available across the industry in Wales and all over the world.

Jacqui Jones, Program Manager of UWTSD’s International Travel, Tourism, Events & Festivals Management Portfolio said:

“Last year was the first time we hosted the event in Swansea and more than 600 students registered to attend and 30 companies supported the careers fair – making it the biggest ever Future You. It also won two national awards for Best Student Event at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards and at the Institute of Hospitality Awards, Best Educational Programme.

“The event will once again be run for students by students, and they are planning for it to be even bigger and better than last year. With a greater focus on career opportunities for students in Wales and across the world as well as a larger and more interactive careers fair.”

This year’s event is being run by final year student Chloe Griffiths who is studying Events and International Festivals Management and is responsible for planning the interactive careers and industry fair.

Events student Elinor Haskins and International Travel and Tourism Student Melissa Duffy, who are ABTA Regional Student Representatives and are being mentored by Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships as part of their industry project, are organising and managing the conference.
