The Vale Resort has appointed a new human resources manager to bolster its management team.

Victoria Charlesworth will be responsible for more than 400 employees at the four-star south Wales resort.

Ms Charlesworth has more than 20 years of experience, mainly in the hotel and hospitality industry, and joins the resort from SA Brain Limited where, as people development advisor, she helped develop and roll out the company’s career pathway programme.

Prior to this, Ms Charlesworth, who studied hotel, catering and institutional management at Cardiff Metropolitan University, also worked as cluster human resources manager at Principal Hayley Hotels and was human resources and operations manager for the Rezidor Hotel Group.

Ms Charlesworth, a CIPD member with a professional certificate in education, said:

“I’ve always been passionate about people and the hospitality industry, so I was delighted to be offered this role.”

Ms Charlesworth has extensive experience in training, having designed and delivered a range of courses, including employability programmes. She is keen to apply her knowledge to support the personal and professional development of staff at the Vale Resort.

“I’ve always been interested in training,” she said. “I believe in the power of choice, of giving managers the opportunity to develop their management style and have witnessed first-hand the benefit professional training can have on individuals and businesses. I’m looking forward to empowering staff with opportunities to develop their skills and unlock any untapped potential.”

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Beddoe, sales and marketing director at the Vale Resort, added:

‘Victoria has a wealth of experience in the HR sector that will benefit us all. She is already making an impact with several projects and training programmes that will benefit our team, so I’m looking forward to seeing what her ambition and strong work ethic will help move our business forward.”
