Dolphins are popping up on smartphones across Wales!

See the Dolphins anywhere on the Wales Coast with the new version of the Wales Coast App

The latest version of Keep Wales Tidy’s Wales Coast App has just launched, including a new augmented reality feature which allows you to see the different species of dolphins and where best to spot them whilst actually on the Welsh coastline. The mix of digital animation and real life imagery allows the user to get an insight into the beautiful dolphins and porpoises that we have along the Coast. The latest version also contains information on many of the lighthouses in Wales, making it truly all you need to explore the Welsh Coast.

Sarah Perry, for the Welsh Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales says:

“We are so lucky to have one of the UK's biggest pods of dolphins in Cardigan Bay, where they're a daily delight for visitors. The new version of the Wales Coast app gives a brief overview for visitors to understand the main species we see along the coastline and the importance of the environment they live in.”

The free app contains an array of information and exciting features for anyone planning a coastal break. Avid walkers will like the fact that the app measures the route and gradient of the Wales Coast Path, enabling you to track your progress, and access live weather links and tide timetables.

The app also offers tourism and leisure providers an ideal platform to promote their businesses. Users can find their nearest beach and check out local attractions and facilities, including National Trust sites, hotels and restaurants.

Lesley Jones, Chief Executive for Keep Wales Tidy says:

“The Wales Coast App is the perfect tool for walkers, families and individuals looking to explore the beautiful Welsh coast. It is great to include this new feature which allows every visitor to enjoy the beautiful wildlife we have here in Wales.”

The Wales Coast App functions without mobile phone coverage, allowing walkers to use it along the entire Coastal Path. It is available to download on the Apple App Store and the Android Play Store.
