In celebration of Love Your Local Market fortnight, which takes place between 17th and 31st May, St Tydfil Shopping Centre is having an old-fashioned singsong on Saturday 20th May.
Between 11am and 4pm, actors and singers who have performed on stages in London’s West End will be in the centre singing classic market style songs, such as ‘Who will buy’ from Oliver and ‘Wouldn’t it be loverly’ from My Fair Lady. They will also be giving away lavender and directing visitors upstairs to discover the centre’s Indoor Market.
The market is a vibrant community with independent stallholders selling a wide range of products, such as pet supplies, clothing, retro toys and comics, gifts, accessories and much more. It also includes a hair salon and nail salon, a café, a computer repair stall and a bakery.
Nick Magor, Centre Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented;
“Our indoor market is an integral part of the shopping centre and, as the national Love Your Local Market campaign is all about celebrating the uniqueness of markets, we wanted to do something to encourage people to visit and possibly discover it for the first time.
“There are stallholders who have been part of the market for many years and it’s where some of our independent shops, such as Ruggers, Flower Pots of Love and Cosmetics4U, started.”
St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s Love Your Local Market free event takes place on Saturday 20th May 2017 between 11am and 4pm.
