Wales’ largest specialist digital marketing agency, Liberty, has announced a rebrand as part of its 15th year in business.

The rebrand, launched on 11th January 2024, will not only change how they communicate with the world but sees the business go back to its founding principles to make sure they win the right kind of business in the future.

This rebrand will help the agency not only grow this year, but secure clients who feel their current activity is lacking and want to do things better.

Kieran Curtis, Marketing Manager at Liberty Marketing, says:

“We didn’t stand out amongst other agencies with our previous branding, and we weren’t communicating what made us different, which is our no-nonsense approach to digital marketing and partnering with clients for mutual success.

We found ourselves competing with other agencies and consultancies that looked and sounded similar to us, yet we operate in a different way.

Based on client and employee feedback, we knew the branding didn’t reflect who we are or the experience and passion within the teams.”

The agency has previously won awards for innovation and effectiveness, including a 2023 BIMA Award for Effectiveness.

However, Gareth Morgan, CEO of The Liberty Group, suggests that the previous branding didn’t reflect innovation.

He says:

“We want our values to shine through with the branding, and this is that we’re creative, ethical and no-nonsense. There are many agencies that over-promise results, use too much jargon and spend client budgets as if it’s free money, which is the opposite of Liberty as a brand.

The past 18-months have been extremely tough in the marketing world, and it was no different for Liberty.

Despite marketplace challenges, the agency did see some record months and is starting this year with the largest new business pipeline they’ve ever had.

A lot of new work has been around consultancy and training with the likes of RFU (English Rugby) and Welsh Government, and now the agency is investing additional resource into further expanding this offering.

“Our new branding is very different to the agencies we find ourselves competing with, and extremely different to what we had previously. It’s time for a new start for Liberty, and this new brand and messaging shows that we’re gearing up for when the market is fully open again.”

The team at Toward, who Liberty partnered with for the rebrand, held a number of meetings with Liberty team members to get an idea of what Liberty is all about.

Tom Lloyd, Founder of Toward, says:

“Liberty is one of the best around, and an agency we are really proud to partner with. What we also knew was that their visual brand wasn’t living up to the experience. The old identity didn’t reflect their ambition. It needed more confidence – to believe in itself, to stand for something.”

The PPC, SEO, Content, Social and PR agency now employs over 40 members of staff, and has a client roster which includes Space NK, Hodge Bank, ESCP Business School, Aldermore and Tata.
