Cardiff-based web and digital technology company, UpriseVSI, has been appointed by Badminton Wales to deliver a new logo and brand identity along with a modernised website to enhance user experience and increase engagement with the Welsh Badminton community.

Formally the Welsh Badminton Union, Badminton Wales has been the governing body of the sport within the Principality since its formation in 1928. With more than 2000 members at over 90 clubs, the organisation has the dual focus of improving performance at elite level while increasing participation in the sport at grass roots and school-age level. Through initiatives such as the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) Shuttle Time the sport has seen more than 1 million school children participate in the sport over the past decade, with as many as 8,000 children playing Badminton every week across Wales.

In order to build on this success, Badminton Wales are seeking to modernise their brand identity and online presence to reflect the vibrant work being done by the organisation, coaches, and participants throughout the country.

UpriseVSI will be working with Badminton Wales to deliver a new logo, which will act as a symbol of both the organisation’s modern, progressive strategy for the future of the sport in the region, while upholding its heritage as a Welsh brand.

At the heart of the new website will be an improved, modern and responsive design that will offer its visitors greater user experience, helping them navigate to the areas they require as seamlessly as possible on desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile, while delivering the key messages of high performance, and increased participation across the age groups.

The site itself will be built upon the UpriseVSI content management system thinkCMS, which allows users to add new content, blogs, images and media to the site through an easy to manage back-end suite. This will provide the Badminton Wales staff the ability to have full control of the content of the website and ensure that it becomes a vibrant central hub of information for the Welsh badminton community; encouraging new member sign-ups, an easy means to enter tournaments, and access to media, news, and events from around the world.

Kelly Aston MBE, Head of Operations at Badminton Wales, commented:

“We’re really excited to be working with UpriseVSI on this project.  Modernising the brand and website is of key strategic focus for Badminton Wales, serving as a reflection of our progressive culture and to provide our members with an online platform that’s attractive, informative and offering a great user experience.

“As an organisation we have been delivering exciting new initiatives at grass roots and performance level across Wales, to help increase participation across all age groups in the sport, and to provide a platform for excellence at the top-tier. The new website will certainly provide a great platform to let us get that message out.”

Gareth Rees Jones, Managing Director of UpriseVSI, commented,

“It’s always great to work with leading names from Welsh sport and we’re delighted to have been appointed to deliver the new logo and website for Badminton Wales. Their refreshed brand identity, and a modern website, built on our robust and versatile content management system, will provide Badminton Wales the ideal online platform to showcase the exceptional work they do across schools, clubs, and at the performance level.”
