Haverfordwest’s Foley House to be Sold Off

Haverfordwest landmark Foley House is to undergo partial restoration before being disposed of on the open market.

The Grade II* Listed two storey Georgian villa is owned by Pembrokeshire County Council and has been vacant for some years.

In 2017 The Welsh Georgian Trust expressed a wish to acquire the house and return it to a single residential dwelling but it later pulled out of the deal.

A survey commissioned by the Trust revealed the building was used as a roost by several species of bats.

Meeting on Monday (1st July), the Council’s Cabinet agreed to the repair works to prevent water penetration before putting Foley House on the market.

Councillors also agreed to commission a statement to inform both themselves and any prospective purchaser what would be required to accommodate the bats at the property and within the surrounding grounds.

An amendment was added to the recommendation that any community groups or organisations interested in the building should initiate discussions with the Council before the end of August, 2019.
