Young entrepreneurs across Caerphilly will have an exciting opportunity to bring their business ideas to life with the Welsh ICE 5-9 Club.
This unique 8-week after-hours program is made possible through the collaborative partnership between Caerphilly County Borough Council (CCBC) and Welsh ICE, providing aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge, support, and resources they need to bring their business ideas to life.
Commencing on January 23, 2024, and running every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, this comprehensive course connects participants with industry experts and like-minded individuals in a supportive, engaging, and fun environment. It covers all the crucial aspects of starting a business, including idea generation, sales, marketing, branding, establishing an online presence, business planning, and effective pitching. Furthermore, participants will receive invaluable guidance on securing funding and navigating the complexities of legal aspects.
In the program's culminating week, all participants will have the opportunity to present their ideas to seasoned experts, gaining industry insights, valuable contacts, and constructive feedback that will prove instrumental in guiding their entrepreneurial journey.
Commenting on this forthcoming initiative, Councillor James Pritchard expressed his enthusiasm, saying,
“It has been great to team up with Welsh ICE to support the Youth 5-9 club. Our young people will have the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills and develop their ideas on this exciting new programme. An excellent opportunity awaits.”
The Welsh ICE 5-9 Club is open to individuals aged 16-24 with a business concept, residing or working in Caerphilly. The course will be available online and in-person at Welsh ICE, situated in Britannia House, Caerphilly Business Park, Caerphilly, CF83 3GG.
Tom Phillips, ICE Academy Manager, underscored the significance of this collaborative effort:
“We are thrilled to provide this exciting opportunity to Caerphilly's budding entrepreneurs. Our shared goal, in partnership with CCBC, is to cultivate a supportive and empowering environment where young innovators can explore their entrepreneurial spirits, acquire essential knowledge and skills, and transform their business ideas into a tangible reality.”
This 5-9 Club cohort is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with Caerphilly County Borough Council directing the funding as part of their collaboration with Welsh ICE. Furthermore, other projects supported by the UK Government, in conjunction with Welsh ICE, include additional 5-9 Clubs and the Caerphilly Enterprise Hub.
