A young, working mother is helping Welsh businesses reach their full potential, via her own successful digital marketing business.
The brainchild of 32 year old Pontyclun based business woman Katie Bullon, Bull Solutions (Bull) provides marketing solutions including strategy and planning, websites, SEO, design and branding. The objective: to help local businesses reach their full potential through accessible and affordable marketing.
Having made the decision to take the leap and leave the comfort of her full time role at global blue chip organisation BBI Group, Katie launched Bull while on maternity leave with her first son Jack.
Juggling a new business and home life didn’t prove an obstacle for this mumpreneur. A franchise opportunity allowed Katie to springboard her ideas and be a mother.
“I’m passionate about building and growing my business – but equally as passionate about spending time with my family. The franchise provided the logistics and team to support me, and I didn’t have to miss out on first steps and words”.
And it worked! Since starting Bull, Katie has had a second baby, Harry, and grown the business to a turnover 3 times that projected in just 2 years of trading.
Success doesn’t start and stop with her own business. Katie works with local legal, insurance, retail, construction and property companies to increase reach and revenue through digital marketing.
Healthcare has proven and continues to be a strength for Katie. The launch of a 24/7 self-help website for client Pen-y-Bont Health’s 60,000 patients has received praise from GP’s, public health and patient groups, as well as First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones.
Off the back of the Pen-y-Bont Health launch, Katie is now working with other local medical committees and GP’s.
Closer to home Katie has launched a new website to raise awareness of, and increase sales for talented local businesses. Pride of Pontyclun allows businesses to promote their products and services, and the local community to review and rate their experience of them, in one accessible online directory.
And on a personal note, Katie’s motivating others, taking her 10 years’ experience to local business and start-up networking groups, delivering talks on marketing.
The future appears bright for both Katie and Bull. With 25 live websites on its books and more than 30 clients, the business is growing every month.
On her achievements Katie said
“There are days when juggling things can be a challenge, but I have the team to back me and my clients during my working hours. My boys have my undivided time and attention outside of this”.
When asked would she do it all again, Katie continued
“I would urge anyone with a good idea, and a lot of determination, to take those steps into self-employment. I believe that with hard work and commitment it really is possible to have it all.”
