Welsh Government Offers 30 Hours of Free Childcare for Working Parents

This article has been submitted by Business Wales

The Welsh Government’s new childcare offer will provide working parents with 30 hours of early education and childcare for 3 and 4 year olds, for up to 48 weeks a year.

Parents will receive a combined total of 30 hours of early education and childcare during term time. The current free early education provided by the Foundation Phase will form part of this offer.

For 9 weeks of the year, outside of term time, parents will receive 30 hours per week of childcare.

The offer will be tested in areas of some local authorities from September 2017 to make sure it works for parents and childcare providers. This will be followed by wider roll-out across Wales.
