The Welsh Government’s Innovation team –– responsible for supporting business growth and diversity in Wales –– has attended a kick-off meeting as part of an exciting new EU-funded initiative, hosted in Bilbao, Spain last month.
Bringing together 10 partners from eight European countries –– including Spain, Italy, Romania, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Poland and Wales –– Cohes3ion is a three-year project which aims to promote business growth and job creation across Europe through best practice and policy.
More specifically, the project aims to integrate local and regional priorities into shared policies to increase their impact and performance, while strengthening links within Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) sectors across both public and private sector businesses.
Welsh Government attendees and partners were introduced to the Cohes3ion project leaders and given an insight into socioeconomic data, an overview of the project goals, and a selection of industry related case studies to explore. They will reconvene for a second meeting in January 2020, due to take place in Ruhr, Germany.
Education Minister Kirsty Williams said:
“The Cohes3ion project closely aligns with the Welsh Government’s Economic Action Plan which is part of the national strategy for Wales and sets out goals for growing our economy and reducing inequality.
“We are committed to maintaining and growing our relationships with European partners and, through dynamic projects like Cohes3ion, we want to showcase Wales as a growing economy with technological expertise at the forefront of innovation.”
