Ethical skincare brand, The Goodwash Company, established in Barry, is behind the latest door of an online advent calendar celebrating Britain’s independent high street retailers in the run-up to Christmas.

The social media countdown has been launched by NatWest as part of its ongoing support for small businesses, encouraging people to shop locally this Christmas.

From gift shops and beauty products to bakeries and chocolatiers, the Christmas countdown will profile a different retailer from across England and Wales each day.

Today’s (December 14) festive treat is Ethical skincare brand, Goodwash which develops natural products based on age old remedies.

Owners Kelly Davies and Mandy Powell said:

“2020 has been a huge challenge for us. We pride ourselves on buying locally and ethically and our supply chains have each experienced understandable delays which brought knock on effects to stock.

“We adapted our Goodwash online store www.goodwash.co.uk to deal with a change of environment and have been overwhelmed by the loyal support of our customers and reactions to our COVID campaigns and projects. Our Diolch Bars and NHS donations received national recognition and supported over 10,000 NHS staff and key workers.

“To take a risk and start a local business is hard in any year but take 2020 COVID and lock downs locally, nationally and internationally and it becomes a survival tightrope! Thankfully our customers genuinely love our products and also believe in and get behind what we are trying to do, which is to change the world one wash at a time.”

The Goodwash Company has been supported by NatWest Entrepreneur Development Manager, Siwan Rees.

She said:

“Our 12 Days of Christmas event, which is running for the second year, is about celebrating the amazing work of the independent retailers who work tirelessly throughout the year and bring so much creativity and diversity to our economy. That is why we’re really proud to support these businesses and just as importantly, the people behind them.”
