One of the world’s largest accountancy firms is shining a light on Wales’ economic growth and future potential by announcing the launch of Vibrant Economy Wales – a regional campaign inspired by Grant Thornton’s 100 Faces of a Vibrant Economy which showcases inspirational leaders from across the UK.

Now in its third year, Cardiff Grant Thornton is looking to increase the number of Welsh faces in the 100 Faces list by searching for the country’s most pioneering leaders. The firm is identifying leaders that stand out from the crowd for their organisation’s growth, innovation, social impact and the work they do to empower people, from employees, customers and the wider community.

Over the last two years, nine Welsh business leaders have made the prestigious list, and Cardiff Grant Thornton office is looking to grow this in the future. Previous Welsh inclusions have included Laura Tenison MBE, founder of mother and baby brand JoJo Maman Bébé, a company which has not only proved to be hugely commercially successful, but also one that places a great emphasis on ensuring employers have a social responsibility to lead by example.

Creating a vibrant economy is at the core of the Grant Thornton corporate philosophy, and underpins all functions of the global firm, from recruitment and staff development, to the clients they choose to work with and the communities they help. Now the firm, which employs over 40,000 employees across 130 countries and almost 60 in Wales, is looking to amplify all that the nation is doing to create and sustain positive economic activity across a range of sectors.

To launch Vibrant Economy Wales, the firm is inviting some of the most brilliant Welsh leaders from a variety of communities to collaborate and share ideas to create an environment across Wales which supports sustainable business growth, innovation and sense of purpose. The exclusive event will be hosted by Grant Thornton UK CEO Sacha Romanovitch, who will share her insight on the important role inspirational leaders play in creating a vibrant Welsh economy.

In addition to the event, the regional campaign launch marks the creation of a new online platform which will provide an opportunity for individuals, enterprises and organisations from across Wales to tell their stories of success. The firm hopes the platform will encourage people across the vibrant economy communities to share best practice and foster collaborations to spark change and inspire innovation.

Speaking ahead of the event, which takes place on Thursday 15th March at The Old Library/Yr Hen Lyfrgell in Cardiff, Alistair Wardell, Partner at Grant Thornton commented:

“The Welsh economy is characterised by inspirational people and brilliant organisations that create a real vibrancy in our region.   Our aim for the campaign in Wales is to showcase these and set the seed for relationships to build and collaborations to occur which otherwise might never happen.

“We want to be the catalyst for an environment in which businesses and people can thrive. Alongside some of the brightest and forward-thinking establishments across Wales we want to build a community of progressive leaders to inspire and assist the next generation in making a positive and sustainable difference to the economy and wider community.”

The Vibrant Economy Wales platform will host a variety of content including case studies of growing businesses, innovative organisations and purpose led enterprises from across Wales and feature stories of some of the faces from Wales in Grant Thornton’s 100 Faces campaign.

Event is by invite only so if you are a growing, innovating and/or an organisation working with a sense of purpose and would like to find out more about this please contact [email protected].
