Wales’ First Finance Awards has Launched


The inaugural Finance Award Wales have been launched to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the profession and recognise the significant contribution made by the Finance sector to the Welsh economy.

The Awards are being organised by principal partner Recruit 121 Finance & Accounting Solutions. The Cardiff-based firm – a specialist staffing provider for the Finance sector – is currently ranked as one of the 50 fastest growing recruitment businesses in the UK, in an industry of over 29,000 nationwide.*

The Finance sector is growing at a faster pace in Wales than anywhere in the UK, with the number start-up financial services businesses in Cardiff itself outpacing the traditional Finance centres of London, Bristol and Edinburgh.

The Finance Awards Wales will showcase the best in Finance talent across Wales and recognise the sectors. From the next generation of Apprentices and Graduates, to those seasoned Finance Directors and Chief Financial Officers at the forefront of the sector in Wales, the Awards will recognise the best talent in the sector and honour its unsung heroes leading transactional accounting.

Ken Skates, Wales’ Economy & Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary, has welcomed the launch of the Awards.

He said:

“A skilled workforce is vital in driving a strong, growth economy and in Wales our finance professionals play pivotal roles across all industries and sectors.

“These new Finance Awards Wales will recognise the very best talent and will show that Wales has the skills to compete at the highest levels of world business.”

With a judging panel including Mike Fowler Group Finance Director Leekes Retail and Leisure Group, Mark Tweed Managing Director UK, Ireland & Sweden GM Financial and chaired by Ken Poole, Head of Economic Development, City of Cardiff Council and Emma Peterson, Director of Recruit 121 Finance & Accounting Solutions, nominations are welcomed from October 18th 2017 to January 18th 2018, culminating in the Awards ceremony held at City Hall, Cardiff, on April 20th 2018.

10. Medium/Large Finance Team (more than 11 staff)
