UKSE Community Fund supports Circus Starr Cardiff Show

Circus Starr came to Cardiff and 40 local youngsters with special needs enjoyed a spectacular show thanks to UKSE.

UKSE, a subsidiary of Tata Steel, supported the Welsh show of the touring circus with £1,000 from its Community Fund so the young people and their carers and families could enjoy all the thrills and spills of the Big Top.

Kerry Jackson of Circus Starr said she was very grateful for the contribution from the Community Fund. She explained that many disabled young people and their families seldom enjoy days out due to the high cost, and the fact that traditional entertainment doesn’t always fit their requirements.

“We bring all the fun of the circus to children and families that may have found this difficult in the past. We know that a circus is a family event that brings everyone closer, encourages creativity and allows people to become stronger and more able to face life’s challenges head on,” said Kerry.

“We tour the UK bringing the very best in circus talent from around the world and stage 148 incredible, animal-free shows every year. We are very grateful for the support from UKSE.”

UKSE is celebrating 50 years of helping businesses, communities and individuals in former steel areas, and has marked its half century by setting up a Community Fund for local projects such as this.

Jake Walters of UKSE said he was delighted that UKSE was able to support the Cardiff show.

“Circus Starr is a wonderful organisation which has developed a unique offering for families around the UK. The show was truly excellent and we wish them all success in the future to continue to provide unforgettable days out and bring joy to youngsters and their parents and carers.”
