The Ty Newydd Country Hotel in Hirwaun is looking forward to a bumper festive period after a £1,400,000 investment supported by Barclays.
The £1,400,000 investment has enabled two London property investors to buy out the former business owners and complete the purchase of the Ty Newydd Country Hotel.
Ty Newydd (New House) was built in the 1930’s by Mr. W.M. Llewellyn a prosperous mine owner. It was originally a farm house called Bryn Gaer (fort on a hill), so at some time in its history it must as its name implies have been a defensive fort or stockade and even claims to have a resident ghost.
The 28 bedroom hotel currently employs 12 full time staff and 18 part time staff. The new owners are committed to making the business a success and have already made substantial investment in improving the grounds and creating new attractions for customers to enjoy when visiting the Ty Newydd Country Hotel. This investment will attract even more interest for an already very busy Wedding and function Venue.
The new owners of The Ty Newydd Country Hotel said,
“When we first viewed the Ty Newydd we loved how the Hotel was set in such a picturesque setting away from the main road and surrounded by substantial grounds. We found the staff very warm and friendly and having viewed the Hotel decided to dine at the newly refurbished restaurant called Caradogs. The busy restaurant looked immaculate and the food was amazing. It was then we decided that this was definitely a business worth the investment and approached Barclays for financial support. We hope this continued investment demonstrates our confidence in the business and our commitment to the local area and workforce.”
Les Phillips, Barclays Business Manager, said,
Barclays research identifies the significant role “entrepreneurs” play in the local economy and is committed to supporting such propositions. By using our knowledge and experience within the local market, Barclays Business has been delighted to support the “Ty Newydd” Hotel and wishes the business every success for the future. With occupancy rates running at 80%, combined with strong food and bar revenue the business continues to grow and is looking to further develop the wedding business offering, aiming to deliver numerous bespoke wedding packages during 2017.”
